Sexually unsatisfied wife sets husband on fire in Etah

Etah. Unable to satisfy his wife sexually, a man was set on fire by his wife in Etah, though the burning husband also gripped his wife before he collapsed. They are struggling for their lives in a hospital in Aligarh.
The residents of Gangagarh, a village in the Soron area of Etah, were pulled out of their afternoon slumber recently when they heard the dreadful screams of Munesh Yadav, coming from his house. Arriving hurriedly at his door, the villagers found both Munesh and his wife Savita lying in the courtyard, badly burnt and on death throes.
The couple was rushed to a local hospital where Mr Yadav, who had received almost 80 per cent burn injuries, revealed that his wife set him afire. He said Savita overpowered him in his sleep and tied his hands and feet with ropes, then set him on fire by pouring kerosene.
Mr Yadav said that he married Savita in 2002 and since then they had been living in the village. Soon after the wedding, he realised he could not satisfy Savita sexually and as a result, she soon began to refuse his authority on the household.
In 2005, she gave birth to a girl who died soon after. That further increased her antics and she even tried to burn him then. He said he could not resist his wife's attempts as he was weak due to an illness and she was quite strongly built. He said that if it had not been for the villagers who arrived on time, he would have been dead.
But this time, he was caught in his sleep and Savita tied him up. According to Mr Yadav, when he saw his wife overjoyed to see him burn, he was filled with anger. And as soon as the ropes burned away in the fire, he ran towards her and gripped her, setting her afire.
He said that he was not repentant on what he did to his wife, as it was probably the best punishment that anyone could have devised for her crime.
According to Kasganj DSP AK Singh, the couple was rather badly burnt in their self-inflicted fire and were in critical condition at the Aligarh Medical College.
He said the couple had registered their statements before the magistrate in which they had revealed the truth about the incident but there was little probability of the couple's survival considering the extent of burns and the police could only register the case once at least one of them is declared out of danger.
