MP Tourism to target domestic tourists from Agra

AGRA, 26 JAN. In order to take the advantage of large number of foreign and Indian tourists coming to Agra, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) is now making seductive “commission” offers to Agra based tour operators to divert this huge influx of tourists towards MP.
Besides being home to the world famous Mughal wonder Taj Mahal, Agra also enjoys the advantage of being the located at the borders of four states – Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh and all these states direct their tourist traffic towards Agra but now, the tides are reversing.
Targeting the tourists coming to Agra, Ashwini Lohani, Managing Director, MPTDC announced two special tour packages for domestic tourists in Agra on the Republic Day eve, through a multimedia presentation at Hotel Clarks Shiraz, which was also attended by over 25 tour operators of Agra, including Travel Corporation of India, Touraids & Travel Bureau. Selling these packages to the tour operators assembled on this occasion, Mr. Lohani said that the travel agents who promote the tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh, shall be provided with 20 percent commission on the package booking.
Later, talking to UNN, Mr. Lohani said that MP Tourism has prepared two packages designed specifically for Indian tourists, which includes a 4 day-3 night package for just Rs. 5000 & a 3 day-2 night package for Rs. 4000, covering 4 & 3 heritage destinations respectively. He said that the packages have been designed keeping in mind that the tourists stay only in one of the 49 hotels & mid-way resorts operated by MPTDC. Mr. Lohani also announced a lucrative discount of 30 percent on the lodging charges on the student packages offered by MPTDC.
On this occasion, Mr. Lohani also announced the formal opening of MPTDC marketing office at Agra, headed by a Resident Manager, M.S. Rana. Talking to UNN, Mr. Rana said that this office shall serve to satisfy the queries of the tourists while also booking tour packages.
