An assault on Indian society roots: Attack on BRAU V-C

AGRA, 07 Nov.
Such incidents were only witnessed in the parliament and state assemblies before this. Earlier, politics was targeted as a breeding ground of criminals, now even the academicians are not far apart.

In an unfortunate incident that happened first time in the history of 77-year history of this oldest University of North India. The educators of the University assumed the role of rogues by attacking the UNESCO fellowship awardee University Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.S. Kukla on Saturday, shocking the entire Agra town.

Perpetrated by a section of the education mafia operating in the University, the attack on the Vice-Chancellor has come as a surprise to the academic community of the city, which has termed this incident as an attack on the very roots of the society.

Arriving just about 2 months back, the Vice-Chancellor had introduced several academic reforms in the University, which included a significant change in the Research programmes in a University, where even a fourth class employee was holding a Ph.D. Seeking to change this system, Prof. Kukla made a number of changes in the education system and this was the issue that hit the vested interests of the education mafia operating in the University, starting a tension buildup among the teachers against the Vice-Chancellor, culminating in the unfortunate incident of Saturday.

It is very surprising that even when the culprits were easily identifiable in the videotapes provided by a local cable operator, the Agra police remained hesitant in filing an FIR against the rogue teachers.

These teachers has only served to prove that the incidents like Orissa assembly happen due to the “education” imparted by these teachers to the young generation.

The way these teachers tried to climb upon the Vice-Chancellor’s desk closely resembles the behavior of the politicians inside the parliament and state assemblies.

All the more surprising was the fact that the local administration, despite being warned of such a mishap in advance by the University Registrar, did not care to beef up the security around the University Secretariat, which ultimately resulted in an incident that has thrown mud on the face of Agra, which gave the first University to North India.
