Amar Singh's Sulh-e-Kul spits fire for Congress in Fatehpur Sikri

By VIJAY UPADHYAY

AGRA, 2 Nov. The UP Development Coucil Chairman Amar Singh was spitting fire when he lashed out at the Union Government’s “un-cooperative” attitude towards the UP government on the issue of Taj’s 350th anniversary celebrations, from the historic Diwan-e-Khas of Emperor Akbar’s deserted capital Fatehpur Sikri, near Agra on Monday evening.

The second colorful mega-event in continuance of the series of events being held on the 350th anniversary of the Tajmahal was held in the “Diwan-e-Khas”, from where Mughal Emperor Akbar had delivered his message of “Sulh-e-Kul” or World Peace, in consultation with his “Nav Ratnas”.

Addressing the assembled guests from the very same stage, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh tried to deliver his version of “Sulh-e-Kul” but he could not keep out his political aversion towards the Congress led Union government from his short speech and said that while the UP government had visualized the 350th anniversary events of the Tajmahal as a way to preach peace and universal brotherhood in the country to prevent the repetition of incidents like Gujrat, the Central government’s reluctance to provide support to the UP government has made the task difficult, though not impossible.

He said that the support of the Central government would have been desirable, though not absolutely necessary, as the will of the UP government does not depend on the whims of the Central government. He warned the Union government that its uncooperative attitude on this event is sending out wrong signals in the world community.

On this occasion, Mr. Singh announced that the UP government shall hold a mega-event in the backdrop of the Tajmahal shortly to answer the criticism that is being targeted towards the events being held in the various monuments of Agra.

Amar Singh said that the Mughal capital Fatehpur Sikri had been established by emperor Akbar with the vision of forming a base of the “Sufi” sect. He said that Fatehpur Sikri is also the home of the “Sulh-e-Kul” ideologue, which has given the country its true secular foundation. On this occasion, Mr. Amar Singh strongly advocated the need for the study of Sufism in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra.

Later, the melodious chords of the Sarod played by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Javed Akhtar’s poetry recital, Manjari Chaturvedi’s Kathak dance & Sabri brothers’ Sufi Qawwali absolutely enthralled the guests in the shadow of the red sand stone “Panch Mahal” in the ancient walled city of Fatehpur Sikri.
The UP Minister of Tourism Kawkab Hamid, Director General, UP Tourism, Zohra Chatterjee & other politicians and bureaucrats also attended the event, though the foreign tourists again remained absent from the scene.
