New Delhi/ Agra To provide a marketing platform to the local cottage units, the Union department of small industries has planned to hold a national industrial exhibition in Agra.
The secretary for the small industries department, Chandrapal, said the exhibition will be held from April 17 to April 25 in which the cottage units of Agra, engaged in various businesses, especially footwear manufacture, will participate.
He said the cottage units of Agra would be provided with an interactive platform with suppliers and industrialists from across the country in the exhibition, helping them secure orders while also making them aware of the countrywide requirements for their products.
According to Chandrapal, the department was concentrating on the small footwear manufacturing units of Agra, which sometimes employing as less as five employees, still was managing to churn out a major part of the total footwear production of the town.
To solve the tax problems unnecessarily faced by these cottage units despite a low capital investment, both the unit owners and the workers were being issued identity cards that would be accredited by the district industrial centre, he said.
