UP Govt recruiting goons, not IT professionals: BJP

Vijay Upadhyay
Agra. The Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Sanjay Joshi has accused UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav of not being IT savvy - distributing jobs to "professional criminals" instead of "IT professionals".

He has also accused the central government of buckling under US pressure in making India self-reliant in defence sector. Addressing a meeting of IT professionals in Agra on Sunday, Joshi said it was due to the criminal-oriented employment policy of Uttar Pradesh that the IT professionals were leaving the State.
He said graduates from professional and technical courses like PMT and IIT, UP, lagged behind, but UP was busy creating jobs for criminals instead of providing better employment and educational opportunities to youth.
He said the low share of the state in professional courses had resulted in a serious shortage of IT and other professionals in UP and the state government appeared to be unperturbed by this fact.
He said there was a complete lack of basic infrastructure like electricity and high-speed internet in the state that could have generated a number of possibilities in the call-centre and other IT related d industries.
Commenting on the foreign policy of the Congress-led UPA government, Joshi said the central government was bending on its knees before the US and an example of this lacklustre foreign policy was clear from the way the central government was denying the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the opportunity to test the indigenously developed cruise missile "Brahmos" under US pressure.
He expressed hope that the present state government shall not last longer and after the BJP took reins of the state, UP shall rise as one of the biggest economic powers of the country with a large workforce of IT-savvy people.
