Youth reinforces battle for life with saat phere in hospital

Agra. Every youngster harbours a dream but for this young man in Agra, it took an entirely different turn when after completing the saat phere, he was back to the hospital bed where he has been struggling for life for the past one week.

Yogesh Sharma, a resident of Agra, ran a commodity trading post in Mathura and his wedding had been fixed for this week but just one week before his wedding, Yogesh was called off from his trading post by some of his friends who, following some argument, repeatedly stabbed him in the abdomen and left him to die on the Agra-Delhi highway.

Injured seriously and bleeding profusely, Yogesh was rushed to a hospital in Mathura. There, he was referred to Agra and since then, has remained admitted in the CCU of the Ram Raghu hospital. While Yogesh was fighting to hold on to his life, it was too much for his family, who had made all preparations for his wedding this week.

Doctors were not sure as to how long it would take Yogesh to recuperated, upon which, the families of the prospective groom (Yogesh) and bride (Varsha) decided to go on with the wedding as planned.

Again, another hurdle. Doctors refused to allow Yogesh to be taken out of the hospital for the wedding. Both the families, then, agreed to have the wedding cermony within the hospital premise.

Last Wednesday, the wedding was duly conducted at the hospital in a mandap erected in the hospital lobby. While all rituals of the wedding were conducted without the groom, Yogesh was specially brought out of the ICU for the saat phere and soon afterwards, he was again sent to the ICU. After the wedding, Varsha left for her in-laws' house, where she awaits her husband's return.
