CNG project rolls out in Agra, finally

Agra. After a long delay, the CNG bus project in Agra has now begun making edgeways, with the laying of the keystone for the first CNG mother station at the Inter-State Bus Terminal in Transport Nagar of Agra, last week.

Talking to the mediapersons on this occasion, JK Singh Tevatia, managing director, Green Gas Limited—a joint venture of the Gas Authority of India Ltd and the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd said the company would establish 10 CNG stations in Agra in the first stage which would be divided into two mother stations, three on-line stations and five daughter booster stations.

He said initially, the company would be constructing one mother station at ISBT in Transport Nagar, and three daughter booster stations, at a cost of Rs 102 crores, which would be completed by March 2006, and the remaining one mother station, three on-line stations and two daughter booster stations wouldl be completed by the end of September this year.

He said besides the buses operated by UP State Road Transport Corporation and other public passenger carrier companies, this mother station would also serve private buses, four-wheelers and auto-rickshaws and by the end of September Green Gas Ltd shall be able to serve at least 6000 auto-rickshaws and 300 buses with CNG.

Besides, he said, shortly, the company would also begin serving piped gas for domestic use in the Civil Lines, Surya Nagar, Bagh Farzana, Khandari and Nehru Nagar areasF of Agra that shall be an added advantage to the residents of the town.
