Taj Mahal - the world's No.1 wonder - Ex. Miss World

VISHAL SHARMA
INDIA (Agra), 1 Dec. Former Miss world and Actress Aishwarya Rai shall canvass all over the globe to get the Taj Mahal on the top of the list of seven wonders of the world. Aishwarya, who had danced at the Taj in a song featuring the seven "supposed" wonders of the world, could not hide her surprise when told that the Tajmahal was not even the part of the list of modern wonders.
Talking to the media persons on Wednesday at the Taj Nature Walk in Agra with the Taj Mahal forming the backdrop, Aishwarya said that when she came to know about this

fact, she took up the task of campaigning among the Indians all over the world to "Vote for Taj", to make it appear at the top of the list of wonders, a position which is held at present by the Great Wall of China. The beauty queen had arrived in Agra to make the official nomination of the Taj Mahal to the list of wonders of the world.
Addressing the media, Aishwarya said that she has traveled all round the globe but the best lies in India. She said that there is no competition of the Taj Mahal and the people treasure its love story. She said that being a student of architecture herself, she has always believed that the Taj Mahal is the best example of Indian architecture and heritage and would urge the Indians to "Vote for Taj Mahal" through the internet to make it rank first on the list. People with no access to internet could also vote for the Taj by sending an SMS of "TAJ" at 8888.
Notably, the UNESCO, being the chief patron of the architectural treasures world over, has never believed in "ranking" the monuments but none the less, it is only human to select what they think is the best. A global vote is being cast on the internet by millions of people all over the world under the banner of New 7 Wonders Foundation to choose their list of seven wonders of the world, with Bernard Weber, a Swiss adventurer and globe - trotter as its chief patron. The final list of Seven wonders of the World shall be announced live, globally on January 1, 2006.
