Sharpshooter coach aims at rivals

The Indian shooting team may not have been able to aim for gold in the Olympics but the team's sharpshooter coach has definitely scored a gold medal in shooting down his opponents in the UP Government.

To celebrate this success, this Olympian has thrown a grand feast at the Agra Municipal Corporation on Sunday, inviting the entire municipal staff and local dignitaries. Transferred and suspended repeatedly by the Government from the post of Municipal Commissioner of Agra, Shyam Singh Yadav, has always succeeded in getting the orders against him reverted through the court by claiming that he was being subjected to political vendetta.

Better known for developing a world-class shooting range in Agra, Yadav has always remained the centre of controversy, first when he targeted a high-profile hotel of Agra by enormously increasing its property tax, after which, he alleges, he was transferred from Agra by the Government under pressure from UP Development Council chief Amar Singh. Moving to the court against the transfer, Yadav managed to get this transfer order revoked after he proved the political motives behind the transfer.

But shortly after he was reinstated as the city's municipal commissioner, he again came under the State Government's spyglass when he refused to allow the misappropriation of municipal funds in projects where some Samajwadi Party leaders had personal interests.

Immediately afterwards, an inquiry committee was setup against him and acting on the report of this committee, the Government issued his suspension orders, but this time too, this sharpshooter aimed at the Government in the court and was rewarded for aim with a stay order being issued by the court on his suspension.
